EMERALD ISLE, N.C. — More than 20 people were injured after a deck collapsed at a beach house on the North Carolina coast on the Fourth of July.
WNCN reported that three of the 25 people injured sustained critical injuries and two were airlifted to the hospital.
Officials said it happened sometime before 7:30 p.m. at a beach-front home on Emerald Isle in Carteret County. The victims were reportedly a family posing for a photo.
More than 20 people may have been on the deck at the time and some suffered severe injuries, according to initial reports.
A helicopter was seen on video leaving the scene. The identities of the victims have not been released.
