Meet ‘Moana’ and the 14-year-old who will voice the newest Disney princess

Even though Disney’s animation adventure-comedy “Moana” won’t be playing on the big screen until November 2016, the search for the princess’ voice is over.

Auli’i Cravalho, 14, of Mililani, Hawaii, has been selected to voice the title character for the film.

“What’s amazing about this story is that she didn’t think she was good enough so she never auditioned. Fortunately, one of our Oahu casting agents discovered her singing at a charity competition and the rest is history,” said Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson, who will also star in the film voicing the demigod Maui.

“An awesome lesson to all young kids out there… work hard, have confidence in yourselves and never think you’re not good enough because you never know what the future holds,” Johnson continued.

The upcoming film has been described as an epic adventure, set around 2,000 years ago and across a series of South Pacific islands. When Moana’s family needs her help, she sets off on a journey to find a fabled island.

The film’s release date is set for Nov. 23, 2016.
